$1,025,000 Settlement in Motor Vehicle Liability Action Against Church
A longtime church volunteer was using his personal vehicle to transport potential new Church members to Sunday morning services. On the way to the services the volunteer driver ran a red light and struck the Plaintiff’s vehicle who was to attempting to make a left hand turn. The Plaintiff suffered a traumatic brain injury along with other bodily injuries. The Plaintiff filed suit against the driver alleging he was negligent in the operation of his motor vehicle and the Church alleging that the driver was an agent of the Church at the time of the incident. The Church denied that the driver was an agent of the Church but instead was performing a personal favor by driving the new members to the Church. The case settled for $1,025,000.
