The Plaintiff was a 52 year old, homeless man who purchased fast food from a nationally known fast food restaurant at approximately 2:00 am in an area of Hillsborough County, Florida with a known history of violent crime. After leaving the store, the customer was attacked and viciously beaten in the restaurant's parking lot. He suffered permanent orthopedic injuries. The Plaintiff filed a civil action against the restaurant alleging that it was negligent for failing to provide adequate security to the premises in light of its previous criminal history. The case settled for $1.25 million dollars.
